HOW MUCH EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED TO ATTEND?
Soundwave Academy is open to and welcomes various levels of experience, from beginner to advanced. To better serve campers, we ask that you rate each student’s skill level upon registration. This will enable us to place students in appropriate groups, when applicable.
WHAT SHOULD CAMPERS BRING?
Camper needs will vary by primary track and/or creative focus, but generally, should include:
Instrument and/or accessories (Please refer to the “What Musical Gear Is Needed?” section for specific information)
Pencil, Notebook, etc.
Backpack (with name labeled)
Spending money for snacks
A method of tracking time (Can be a watch or smartphone)
DO YOU HAVE A TECHNOLOGY POLICY?
We understand that many families have different perspectives and rules regarding smartphone usage. Due to varying camper ages and diverse technological needs across multiple musical tracks, we have chosen to permit smartphones/tablets on campus. However, we do ask that any devices please remain in student backpacks during camp hours, except when using for musical purposes (stopwatch, metronome app, voice memos, etc.). We reserve the right to confiscate devices from campers not in compliance until the end of day.
I'M COMING FROM OUT OF TOWN. WHERE SHOULD I STAY?
If you are coming from out of town, there are several quality hotels in the greater Nashville area. For those who wish to stay in close proximity to campus, two nearby suggestions are:
Courtyard Nashville Goodlettsville
865 Conference Drive, Goodlettsville, TN 37072
CAN PARENTS/RELATIVES ATTEND?
We take the safety of our Soundwave Academy students seriously. For this reason, only registered campers and authorized staff are permitted to have access inside the building during program hours. On Friday, there will be a showcase that parents and other family members are invited –and encouraged– to attend!
We do have a number of spots available on campus for chaperones/volunteers during the week. (If you are an adult that is interested in participating, please see the “What Do Chaperones & Volunteers Do?” section for more information.)
WHAT DO CHAPERONES & VOLUNTEERS DO?
Soundwave Academy chaperones and volunteers have important roles. Chaperones help ensure safety of campers, while volunteers assist in various supportive roles during program hours. Many of these positions do not require an all day commitment. There are also occasional opportunities to sit in on clinics during the week.
We take our responsibility as youth mentors and role models very seriously, and ask that prospective chaperones/volunteers do as well. As such, all individuals must be willing to submit to a background check, as well as provide a statement of faith/values. Please reach out directly at info@soundwaveacademymusic.com or text 615-326-9448 if you are interested in a position.
